Thirty-three square metres on the penthouse floor of The Carrington, on Loop Street — a 24-hour concierge downstairs, a restaurant and coffee shop at street level, and a residents’ rooftop deck. It is compact, and it is the most sensibly priced of the four, but being at the top of the building is the thing people remember about it.

Not good for

No air conditioning and no heating. Cape Town summers reach the mid-thirties; this is the apartment that will feel it.
No parking of its own. Owners, 30 August 2026: there is a public parking garage down the road charging by the hour, and late-night street parking nearby is not a problem — private security patrol the roads. Neither is included, and neither is ours.
No room-darkening blinds.
It is a studio — 33 m². High up, but compact.
Inside, the windows are narrow and face the buildings opposite. The mountain is from the roof, not the sofa.
Smallest television of the four, and no conditioner in the bathroom.
No smoke or carbon-monoxide alarm fitted.

We would rather you booked the right apartment than any apartment. Every one of these is read from the listing, not softened.

The outlook

The mountain is a flight of stairs away

The residents’ rooftop deck sits directly above the apartment, and it looks straight down Loop Street to Table Mountain — the table top and the full run of the cliff face, over the rooftops of the CBD. Pergola, planting, proper furniture. Coffee up there in the morning or a drink as the light goes is the thing people remember about staying here, and it is a short walk up from your own front door rather than a hotel’s.
