Sea Point

Sea Point sits on the Atlantic seaboard, on the far side of Signal Hill from the city centre. It is residential rather than touristy — people live here — and the seafront promenade is the reason to stay. It is paved, apartment and busy from dawn, and it runs past the tidal pool at the Sea Point Pavilion toward Mouille Point and the lighthouse.

Main Road is the spine: restaurants, cafés and grocers the length of it, most of them open late. The mountain behind the suburb is Lion’s Head, and the walk up it is one of the few in the city you can do before breakfast.

It is the quietest of our three areas and the furthest from the business district. That is the trade: about twenty minutes from town, and it does not feel like town at all.
