The part of Cape Town you can do entirely on foot — and the part where parking is genuinely hard.

Loop Street and Bree Street run parallel through the middle of town and carry most of what people come to the CBD for: restaurants, bars, galleries and coffee, packed into a few walkable blocks. The Company’s Garden is at the top end, and the mountain is visible from most street corners.

Both our city apartments are here, and they are eighty-three metres apart — a five-minute walk apart on the same street. That is deliberate: if one is booked the other usually is not, and they suit quite different budgets — the Carrington is a studio on the penthouse floor, Two Twenty Loop a one-bedroom with a parking bay.

The honest catch is parking. It is scarce, it is expensive, and visitors consistently underestimate it. Two Twenty Loop has its own bay on the premises, which is the single most useful thing about it and the reason to choose it if you are driving.
